Join us for this wonderful tour of the City of Providence presented by the RI Historical Society under the aegis of the RI Film & Television Office.
Discover why Providence is truly a Hollywood backlot, learn about its history, and find out about some of our state's most notable and colorful characters. The goal for the tour is to provide filmmakers with an “insider’s” view of the downcity and riverwalk area with an eye toward what would be interesting/unanticipated places for filming.

Amelia, a young girl, who struggles to communicate with her mother after the death of her father, is sent to the portuguese provincial town of Elvas. There she meets Thomas, an Austrian boy who is being fostered by her Aunt and Uncle while they find his parents from whom he was separated during the war. After a rocky start, they teach each other the true meaning of friendship and communication.
The Workshop will take place on Thursday August 6th and will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At ScriptBiz, emerging screenwriters can hone their skills by interacting with and learning from seasoned industry professionals. This year’s program, entitled “From Page to Screen,” takes screenwriters through the entire screenwriting process, with panel discussions on the ins and outs of writing a script and the business aspects of getting a script into production, as well as a special workshop on “pitching your script.”

-- ABOUT THE EVENT:Now completing its 17th year, our annual KidsEye Summer Filmmaking Camp teaches youngsters ages 8-17 the basics of film production, writing, and direction. In 2014, fifty four (54) youngsters took part on the camp, which is held on the beautiful grounds at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston.
The culmination of their work premieres today for their family and friends. For us at Flickers, our filmmakers are always our stars, so help us salute these youngsters who will be part of the future of cinema!
